City of Kingston Common Council Trims Tax Levy To Under 4%: Saves Additional Jobs While Doing It

Alderman Robert Senor: Kingstons Own Barney Fife

City of Kingston lawmakers adopted a 2009 spending plan last night by a vote of 7 to 2 that trimmed the 8.23% tax levy proposed by Mayor James Sottile down to a respectable 3.34%

Most of the Council truly tried to do everything they could to cut the tax levy and to make every effort not to hurt some long time employees by cutting their positions to half time. Many residents stood up,spoke out and somewhat pleaded with the council to not cut someones job if they could help it.

A point was made during the meeting that the job cuts proposed by Mayor Sottile would save the taxpayer just .11 cents a day or $40 dollars for a family of four for the entire year of 2009.

People did not want to see their fellow residents and their families hurt for such a small return on the drastic move that would have cut their jobs. Some calculations on the impact on the City of Kingston taxpayers if they kept some of the positions as is were even lower than .11 cents.

Thank you to all of the Alderman who balanced this additional concern along with the necessary need to drop the tax rate.

However, there is one Alderman that needs to be exposed as a bum.

Kingstons own Barney Fife, both in appearance, actions and words, none other than Robert Senor. He is a joke and a phoney.
It seems that his only agenda is to discredit anyone in a union. That is all he talks about - it's always the unions fault.

He couldn't care less if cutting those jobs only saved the taxpayers a dime a day.

It was interesting that the only time you can get Robert Senor to clam up is when you call for him to offer to cut HIS PAY. He wouldn't offer to cut a DIME off of that.

And that's all he is worth is a dime, and even that is overpaying him.
On another note, someone should ask him about prevailing wages for construction workers. He is very knowledgeable about the subject and always comes out publicly against it.

Does anyone think it is suspicious at all that Alderman Robert Senor was found to be working for a contractor who was in violation of that very law on 52 separate work orders - while doing work for the City of Kingston?

Is it just a coincidence that his contractor was keeping Robert busy doing work for the city and not paying the prevailing wage?

Is it just a coincidence that his contractor, who pays his personal paycheck, got that many "no public bid" work orders?

Is it just a coincidence that his contractor has dropped away from doing any further work for the City of Kingston - now that we need to play be the rules?

By the way, somebody ask Robert Senor how much money in back pay he got because the IBEW Electricians Union called in the Department of Labor to rectify his underpayments for him.

He didn't mind the prevailing rate when he cashed that check with Robert Senor printed on it.
.

.....and he didn't even thank the union for getting it for him.

If Robert Senor wants to play against the unions, he better have his own house and his own daytime job in order and start now building up a political war chest.

Hey Barney? Its time for you to move out of Mayberry.

Oh and before you do move out - its incumbent of you to spill the "secret" deal that you worked out between Bernholtz and Iannucci.

Bob Senor is a liar. The only time he has ever called the union was when he needed there help. Seems there was a problem at Kingston Point Beach, which is in his ward, with the lifeguards. He had the president of CSEA Bart Robins and shop steward Jim Pollacco attend a recreation comittee meeting. Within 5 minutes Robins and Pollacco solved his problem, and it didn't cost the taxpayer one dime. He never even said thank you.
The unions should target Barney Fife next year and send him packing once again.

The unions should also target Hoffay. That slimy dirtbag made a deal with Sottile to cut Edwards' job. He's a snake and pervert. He has to go.

Hoffay seconded the motion to amend to save the jobs and voted yes in the end so that counts for something. Its Senor thats an unequivical piece of crap - he is looking for a fight and it seems he is going to get one. Day job and night job. Too bad for his contractor for hiring this piece of crap.

I hear Aint Bee callin Bobby!

Senor has always been the jerk on the Common Council, nothings changed.

I'm glad you are exposing Senor Labor Report. He is always poking around in everyone elses business, now we can take a look at his. How could he not know he was supposed to get the prevailing rate working for the city? It lookslike a little hanky panky was going on with those work orders. Maybe more than we know.
Lets dig deeper.

I agree.lets vote him the hell out and send him fishin with Opie.

Jaffers Electric should be investigated for all the no bid jobs they got from the city. By the way how much did senor get from the prevailing wage.

How did alderman Senor's company get so much work in the City of Kingston anyway? Isn't that a conflick of interest?

A Progressive Hudson Valley Union said...

The Department of Labor already came in to investigate the City of Kingston and Senors contractor, Jaffer Electric and everybody played the "I didn't know card".

Robert Senor got a nice big check for the wages he should have made while working on City projects.

Don't know the exact amount - maybe he'll tell the Daily Freeman that if they ask.

Or we could just FOIL the Department of Labor for the amount.

But HE must have had no idea that he should have been paid the prevailing wage during his day job as an electrician.

He only knows about the prevailing wage at night - when he has his Barney hat and glasses on.

A REAL MAN of principal would have donated it to the Kingston YMCA or to the Kingston little league because he doesn't agree with people making decent wages when he mumbles along about the subject at his night job.

BUT MAYBE HE NEEDED THE MONEY. I hope he got the interest on it.

Jaffer and the City were let off with a warning because "they didn't know the rules and the law". It was all just a big mistake. (Funny - they have both been doing public work for decades though)

Let's hope they all don't forget the law now and just abide by it.

Is that too much to ask? Most contractors and cities do abide by the law so it would just be fair to ensure that. Wouldn't it?

As a public official, if Senor allows this to happen again he could find himself bunking with Otis.

As a business man, I have a problem with an Aldermans employer getting so much work from the city and then finding out it wasn't being done as the law states it should be. I have to abide by the law! So should he and his employer!

Alderman Senor needs to open up and come clean about how this has happened.

So the veto came down from the big house today. Why not get rid of Gorsline the dead weight and make the Ed S and Ed B answer to the mayor. The city has 5 people leaving this year, there is the savings. The mayor has the people so happy about staying under 4% now he really looks nuts. The alderman need to keep doing what is right and over ride him. Don't get in the mix take back the city and do what is right by keeping the jobs. We all know what this is about, Edwards and Sills. Keep them off the table. Let the Mayor stand alone on this. You alderman look real good right now and your doing the right thing by the city. Next year is coming fast. Over ride him.

I agree with that. They should override the veto because none of us can afford an 8% increase.

I also agree that Senor is a bum and a phoney and I hope he gets exposed with this thing with him and his boss.

Does anyone know why Tom Hoffay is no longer working for Mother Cabrini, and was he a Preist or trying to be one?And what happened to his job at the Governor's office. Should he even be a Alderman?

Something is wrong with him getting all of this work thats wrong. and they get caught breaking the law too? That is pure bullshit, typical politician feathering his own nest on our dime. We need to get rid of him next election. Piece of crap

Put Barney Fife behind bars with Otis. It can't be legal what he and jaffers did. I will never hire Jaffers electric to do anything in my home until the fire that idiot.

Now watch that snake in the grass Alderman Senor(Barney Fife) try to switch back to the republicans when they make a big move on the council next year.He is no good and really should be the first to be voted out.

Anonymous said...

Switching around just shows what a self serving twit he really is. Labor report is right, he ain't even worth a dime.

Alderman Senor aka Barney Fife better eat his Wheaties in the upcoming election season. The Unions are coming out swinging and give him a hard time win or loose. He needs to think twice before denouncing working people in the community.Even Andy Griffin wont be able to help him out of this one.

There are going to be some watchful eyes looking down at what is going on in the city in regard to any bids they give out from now on. They better have their poop together.
