Welcome to Hudson Valley Labor Report

August 8, 2008 - Welcome to the inaugural day of Hudson Valley Labor Report. Finally, a place for working people of the Hudson Valley New York to discuss and analyze issues, events and decisions that affect their ability to raise and support their families with dignity. Too many times those decisions, actions and events hurt those families and were left unchallenged and unexposed. Today is the day that all comes to an end.

Too many times, the middleclass workers of the Hudson Valley been ignored or given poor, nonsensical reasons for adverse decisions made by those in powerful positions or public office. It is time to bring out the good and the bad. It's time to tell it like it is. Too many people fit the description of "middleclass worker" to allow bad decisions to go unchecked.

Hang on, it could get bumpy.

Greetings Bullhorner. Very Happy to say CSEA Local 856 and CLC of Upper Hudson Valley has endorsed James Quigley for Ulster County Comptroller. This was an absolute must since his opponent Elliot Auerbach voted NO TWICE Against prevailing wage in Ulster County as an IDA Member. A slap in the face to all Labor people in this County.

Couldn't have said it better myself Troy Ashdown is right on the money about Auerbach. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. Auerbach has proven if given the chance he will hurt labor. Go Quigley

Any person who is against the middleclass family making decent wages...and actually publicly votes against those wages... deserves no working persons vote. Isn't it ironic that now Elliot is begging for a job from the people he voted against. Wasn't it Ellenville selling the valuable paintings off the Village Hall walls to pay their bills? And wasn't Elliot the Village Manager??

This is good. We need to tell the general public about what goes on.

So glad to see this blog!

Elliott Auerbach has done nothing since announcing his candidacy to indicate that he has any interest in supporting labor issues.

Explaining and apologizing for his votes on the IDA, a visible commitment to affordable workforce housing, public support of NYSNA's organizing campaign at Benedictine, or a statement supporting Family and Medical Leave would all be ideal opportunities for Mr. Auerbach to make his supposed labor allegiance clear. Unfortunately, he has failed to take a public stance on any of these issues.

At this point, it simply appears to be more lip service on Mr. Auerbach's part.
